We’ve spent a lot of time telling you about all the fun things you can do at the Disney Parks. This post is about all the options you have if you want a day outside of the parks. Maybe you just want a break in the middle of your vacation, maybe you have a day at the end of a trip to spend after you’ve used all of your ticketed days, or maybe you just want to plan a day of Disney without the parks.

Meals in the resorts. You don’t have to be staying at a Disney resort to dine there. The resorts offer just about every type of dining experience you could ever want. There are 5-star meals at the Grand Floridian, character dining at multiple locations including the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge, and casual dining at almost every resort. There are breakfast, lunch, dinner and even late night options available.

Resort transports. You can take the monorail or boat from several locations to either a park or other resorts. If you ride the monorail you can stop at all 3 monorail resorts for a snack (or adult beverage) or even a little shopping. There are boats from Disney Springs to Saratoga and Port Orleans. There are boats that run between the EPCOT area resorts including the Swan and Dolphin. Soon, there will be the Skyliner gondola service that runs between Hollywood Studios and some of the resorts in that area.

Mini-golf. There are 3 mini golf options at Walt Disney World. Each has its own theme or in the case of Fairways Miniature Golf, unique challenges. Fantasia Gardens has holes themed after the movie and several have features that even play music. Fairways Miniature Golf is at the same location and resembles a traditional golf course on a mini scale. Winter Summerland is located outside of Blizzard Beach water park. It features 2 courses, one named Summer featuring a sand and beach theme and one named Winter which features a snow and north pole theme.

Disney Springs. You could spend an entire day a Disney Springs by itself. The recently renovated and renamed area (which used to be called Downtown Disney) has many entertainment options. There are dozens of restaurants serving every kind of food imaginable. There are over 100 shops and kiosks to explore selling everything from Disney souvenirs to fine apparel and jewelry. There is a movie theater and bowling alley and all sorts of activities for children. There is also an open air stage with live music and entertainment performances throughout the day.
